Tikka

Tikka came into our care in the autumn of 2025 and was estimated to be around 7–8 months old at the time. She is a Russian dwarf hamster with striking black and white fur and a bold black dorsal stripe running down her back.

She was a little shy when she first arrived, but with time and gentle care from her foster mum, Tikka has been steadily growing in confidence. She enjoys coming out to see what’s going on, will happily pop over to say hello, and will take treats from you — as long as it’s on her terms.

Tikka doesn’t enjoy being handled at all and prefers to stay busy exploring rather than being picked up. She’s a very active little character and great fun to watch, especially when she’s digging and rolling around in her sand bath, which she absolutely loves. Tikka would be best suited to an experienced, understanding home, and is not recommended for children unless they can fully respect her need for no handling, as she can be quick to nip if she feels uncomfortable.
