Gerbils for Adoption
Taco and Nacho
Taco and Nacho came into our care in late January 2026 after spending the first two years of their lives in a very small, unsuitable tank with minimal enrichment. Despite such a restricted start, these resilient boys have absolutely blossomed since moving into a spacious, species-appropriate enclosure.
With the depth of bedding and enrichment they were always meant to have, they’ve created the most impressive burrow systems and clearly love expressing their natural behaviours. They still enjoy their wheel, but they now also have the joy of digging, tunnelling, and even experiencing free roam time for the first time, something they’ve taken to with great enthusiasm, as they explore and zoom around with curiosity.
Taco arrived with a scent gland tumour that had unfortunately gone untreated. He underwent surgery in mid-February, and we’re delighted to say the tumour was completely removed. Following successful post-operative checks, he has recovered beautifully and is now back to his bright, active self.
These bonded boys are estimated to be around two years old. Taco is a handsome silver colour, while Nacho is a warm golden sandy shade. They are sweet and friendly gerbils who are in great spirits, though like many gerbils they can be a little nippy, often giving curious little nips to hands, feet, or socks. This is not aggression, but they would still suit an experienced home that understands gerbil behaviour and respects their boundaries.
Taco and Nacho are looking for a loving, suitable home where they can continue to enjoy proper space, deep bedding for burrowing, and enrichment to keep their busy minds active. After two years of compromise, they truly deserve the very best.
