Russell

Russell is a male Syrian hamster, approximately 18 months old, and very much a golden oldie looking for a peaceful retirement home. He originally caught the eye of a kind person who rescued him from the Pets at Home adoption section, but sadly had to be surrendered again when circumstances changed and he was moved into a noisy household. A frightening experience involving a dog has left Russell understandably timid and wary.

Russell prefers to keep himself to himself and is most active at night, coming out when the lights are off. He loves running on his wheel and quietly going about his business, but he does not enjoy being handled and has no desire for human interaction beyond feeling safe and secure. With time and patience, he has slowly built trust with his foster mum and will now take food from her hand — a big step for him. Russell is only looking for a calm, quiet home with an experienced and understanding adopter who expects nothing more than to care for him and let him live out his days comfortably, on his own terms.
